Robert Laing "Bob" Pearson, 75, passed away peacefully in Pensacola, FL on Tuesday, March 24, 2015.He was born in Worchester, MA on April 13, 1939 to Allan H. Pearson and Anna Carlson Pearson. As a teenager, he was a loyal member of the Boy Scouts and advanced to Eagle Scout. He attended the Coast Guard Academy in 1957 after high school where he earned an engineering degree. Robert Laing "Bob" Pearson, 75, passed away peacefully in Pensacola, FL on Tuesday, March 24, 2015.He was born in Worchester, MA on April 13, 1939 to Allan H. Pearson and Anna Carlson Pearson. As a teenager, he was a loyal member of the Boy Scouts and advanced to Eagle Scout. He attended the Coast Guard Academy in 1957 after high school where he earned an engineering degree. He went through flight training in 1962 in Pensacola, FL, and served his country for 10 years as a fixed wing and helicopter pilot. He met his wife of 51 years, Linda, during flight training and they resided at various air stations in the United States with their two boys, Mark and Todd. He enjoyed being a Boy Scout leader with his older son, Mark, and coaching his younger son, Todd, in baseball. After an honorable discharge from the Coast Guard in 1970, he and his family moved back to Pensacola where they eventually purchased Veteran's Gas Company from his mother in-law, Lois Hetherington. During retirement, he enjoyed traveling with his wife on their boats, "Tootnee 1" and "Tootnee 2", along the Great Circle and being an active member of the Pensacola Yacht Club. His children remember him as a loving but determined father who encouraged them to pursue their goals. He was affectionately known as "Gaga" to his family and thoroughly enjoyed watching his grandchildren in all their endeavors. He will be greatly missed. Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Allan and Anna Pearson, and brother Roger Pearson. He is survived by his brother, Ron Pearson; wife, Linda; sons Mark (Julie) and Todd (Christi); grandchildren Wade, Morgan, Brandon, Meagan, Jack, Jackson, and Dylan.His funeral service will be held at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel on Friday, March 27, 2015 at 1:30pm, with visitation one hour prior. Burial to follow at Bayview Memorial Park. Pallbearers are Mark Pearson, Todd Pearson, Wade Pearson, Brandon Pearson, Jack Jordan, and Skipper Tonsmeire."O Captain!
